North Star Waldorf Academy is a proposed tuition-free public charter school seeking to open in Encinitas in September 2026. Our goal is to provide North County families access to a high-quality Waldorf education within the public school system.
Waldorf education emphasizes a developmentally appropriate curriculum that integrates academics, the arts, nature, and social-emotional learning. It offers a well-rounded, child-centered approach designed to foster curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning. Waldorf teachers know that at the center of all successful learning is compassion. Compassion for each student supports a healthy and holistic development that will serve students far into their future. Our program will combine California state standards with Waldorf-inspired methods, giving students the opportunity to learn through movement, storytelling, hands-on projects, and outdoor exploration.
The school is being designed to serve grades TK–8, with a curriculum that includes visual arts, music, gardening, handwork, world languages, and movement, alongside core academic subjects.
We believe that all families—regardless of income—should be able to choose a learning environment that fits their child. Join us in our mission to bring this tuition-free option to North County.
